English Language Challenges

Hi, this is the last post of the course, and I talk about the English language challenges, in first hand, I can say that in the university I had to learn to read in English because almost all bibliography about my study programme is this language and the English programme of the university isn’t taken a topics about papers or theory. I´ve always knew speak and understand a little bit, but the technical terminology is too difficult to follow. On the other hand I think around the use of blogs is a good teaching methodology because you can practice to read others opinions. However I feel is a communication tool that at least in Chile not used very much.
I think that the carriers or faculties needed improve a different English programmes, because, required for each a specific subjects. Furthermore should be a signature like this, in parallel, in this way, all students, can will take the opportunity to learn English, independently if were advantage to learn previously.
Outside the English class, I use the English a few times, and almost always for reading papers about archaeology, and in some occasions I can practice to speaking, I felt shame for mistaken...

In this time of the history, English been transformed into a "global" language, and can be an important limitation for moving in the science world, in this sense I'm sure it's important to change, what can done by giving greater importance to the language we use in Latino America, and not only do I refer to Spanish and Portuguese. For example, trough the generation of theory in different languages, reliving the importance of the territory in which we live.

A country I'd like to visit

If I could I would visit anywhere, I would visit Guatemala, because I´m into knowing the environmental and the climatic conditions, in this latitude the daily mean temperature it’s too high and wet rather than as here in Chile. I’ll like go to the see a rainforest and the animals that inhabit it. If I have the opportunity I’ll like go to Mexico for a few years to study aboard, because that way I can stay more time. And if I’ll go to live to Mexico I would go Guatemala it has many time as I want because it’s really closer. Moreover in Guatemala has an interesting culture coming on the Culture Maya and has a lot of archaeological architectonic structural I like in to have an opportunity stay in this place. Are located in the central of the continent and has two oceans, the Pacific and Caribbean Ocean, it must be a beautiful and interesting landscape, spot full of life and colors.

This summer

Hi, today I talk about my next summer… Today I thought about how fast the year had gone by, in addition to thinking about its positive and negative aspects, I remembered that I would love to travel for a month to a region of the south or north, to know fully some new place or maybe not so much. I think that for me this will be a hotter summer than the previous ones, on the one hand the temperatures have been very high in the last month and on the other, it will be difficult for me to travel anywhere, because I intend to do my professional practice during the month of January and probably February, when doing the practice I will have little time to work for a salary, but it will be a new study experience, advancing the academic responsibilities of the year 2019. Even so during the summer Santiago has less flow of people, so moving is faster, I hope to spend time with my friends and family who are here. Also in the evenings you can find very entertaining and...

Postgraduate studies!

Hi! Good afternoon, today I will write about the studies I would like to follow after getting my undergraduate degree in archeology, which I hope to conclude next year. I have asked myself a lot about continuing with my studies, because it means investing a lot of time and energy in that, w hat generates me enough doubts. Last year I had the opportunity to meet the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) in Ciudad de México, a place where with good grades, you can follow graduate studies for free. The truth is that I get very excited about the idea of being able to live for a long time (2 or 3 years) in another country. In addition, in Chile the postgraduate courses in archeology are few and with theoretical perspectives that do not attract my attention. In this sense I would like to study, abroad, a part-time course in person that allows me to work at the same time and focus my studies on topics related to community archeology in a feminist perspect...
